Skorobogatych Yu.S. The resume. A retrospective study of cancer incidence in children of Kursk region and level of oncology pediatric service in 2001-2008 year with juxtaposition to Federal level was performed. During the period from 2001 to 2008 the incidence of primary malignancy occurred in 195 children aged 0-17 years. The data were analyzed by standard methods of variation statistics. Comprehensive analysis of two clusters (incidence of primary malignancy and rate of health care for children's oncology population in the Kursk region) made it possible to create 3 categories of tumors: the severe threatening, moderately threatening, and mild threatening. Incidence of malignant neoplasm did not differ significantly from that in the Russian Federation at large. Încology pediatric service in Kursk region was characterized by relatively low levels of early diagnosis of primary malignancy through prophylactic examinations, as well as a high proportion of patients with unidentified and disseminated stages of the disease. The severe threatening malignant tumors in children included brain tumors and leukemia, the least (mild) threatening were nephroblastoma and neuroblastoma. Group of moderately threatening neoplasm included tumors of bone and soft tissues, Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Identified shortcomings in medical care for children with malignant tumors in the Kursk region, as well as the peculiar severity structure of malignant tumors in children of Kursk region indicate the expediency of optimizing health care in the Kursk region with the formation of programs to prevent the development of malignant neoplasm in children population. Key words: pediatry, malignant tumors, Kursk region, oncology service, important pediatric malignancy, less important pediatric malignancy. References
