Summary. The article provides in-depth morbidity analysis based on hospital admissions data by 6 age groups, all disease classes and some separate diseases. With average hospital admissions rate 225.5 cases per 1000 adults, the rates in different age groups differ both by levels and cause structure. Correlation is shown between age structure of population and specifics of pathologies that need all-day hospital treatment. In younger age groups (18-39 years) among the most prevalent admissions there are pregnancies, deliveries and post-partum period, the second place is taken by traumas and other cosequences of external causes. In older age groups (over 50 years) all-day hospital admissions are mostly due to cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms. Admissions due to diseases of genitourinary system take the third place in all age groups except for age group of 40-49 years where these diseases occupy the first place.

Taking into account irregular age population structure in the Russian regions information about prevalent population morbidity in separate age groups demanding in-hospital treatment will allow allocate the hospital network according to needs of certain regions in specialized hospital beds. For another thing, the study is the first stage of a large reasearch cluster aimed on evaluation of population needs in medical rehabilitation.
