Trends in prevalence and incidence of morbidity and disability of children residing within a catchment area of a Moscow health care facility were analyzed for the period of the active phase of the heath care modernization initiative (2005-2011). Mainly positive trends in prevalence and incidence of morbidity of children and adolescents have been identified. Infant morbidity is declining, while a reliable increase in incidence of diseases associated with behavior risk factors (injuries, poisoning and other external causes) and diabetes mellitus in children under 14 years of age has been reported.
