High prevalence of urologic disorders in Russia calls for new methods to increase treatment effectiveness; access to care and therapeutic decisions that are most effective and comfortable to a particular patient are key prerequisite for health recovery of the Russian population. The article reviews major performance indicators of urology departments of the Moscow region hospitals for the last 11 years. Based on the analysis of social and hygienic as well as medical and organizational aspects of urologic disorders the authors substantiate measures aimed at prevention of urologic disorders and improvement of urologic care delivery. Objective of the study. This social and hygienic survey was aimed at developing activities to improve urologic care delivery exemplified by the Moscow Region patients. Results. Major indicators of urologic morbidity in the Moscow Region and its dynamics for 2000-2011 have been analyzed. Clinical and statistical profile of patients applied for urologic care to the municipal policlinic has been developed. Social and hygienic aspects of urologic disorders have been analyzed and their risk factors have been evaluated based on opinion poll. Morbidity structure has been analyzed based on health encounters and hospitalization of patients with urologic disorders. Conclusions. Urologic disorders can be successfully treated at outpatient facilities. Overcrowded urology departments increase risk of additional infection and increased length of stay at the hospital. Scope of application. Proposals for prevention of urologic disorders have been developed; proposals for organizational measures to improve care delivery to patients with urologic disorders have been made.
