The aim of the study was to assess the need for
continuous professional education and advanced training of dental care
providers and to develop a conceptual framework to plan professional
retraining.
Objectives of the study included the following:

Analyze current amount of postgraduate training of dentists at central city dental clinics in Moscow city and Moscow Region.

To identify needs in further education among dentists of different specialty by type of education.

To develop a perspective plan of postgraduate training and advanced training.
Results. The study showed that indicators of the need
in continuous professional education have a practicable applicability.
Calculation of differentiated indicators of annual average need in
residency training and general and topical advanced training of dentists
of different specialty provides the healthcare administration of Moscow
city and Moscow Region with a tool to plan continuous professional
education.
Practical implications. Estimated indicators of the
need in advance training and residency training of dentists in Moscow
city and Moscow Region helped to develop perspective plan of further
education.
