Abstract. Significance. Surgical and interventional treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances accounts for about 30% of all cardiovascular surgeries.

The purpose of the study is to analyze surgical activity in terms of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances in Russia and in the Far East over the past 10 years.

Methods and Data. Based on the number of surgeries for cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances in the country and in the Far East surgical activity was calculated per 100,000 for 2004-2013. A comparative analysis of distribution of corrugated tachyarrhythmias in the country over the past 10 years was undertaken. A comparative analysis of surgical activity for the last three years in different regions of the Russian Federation and its growth dynamics in the Far East was performed as well.

Results and Discussion. The number of surgeries for all kinds of arrhythmias increased 5.00 times in Russia and 13.72 times in the Far East over the last ten years. The number of implantations of anti-arrhythmic devices increased 2.53 times in the country and 3.38 times in the Far East. The Far Eastern District reported the maximum growth of surgical activity (pacemaker implantations increased by 38.30% and surgeries for tachyarrhythmia corrections increased 2.15 times) against the background of one of the lowest indicators per 100,000 among the Russian regions. The Federal Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery (Khabarovsk) made the largest contribution to the surgical activity in the Far Eastern District for the past 3 years.

Conclusions. In spite of the recent dynamic development of surgical and interventional arrhythmology in Russia, availability of this type of treatment in Russia is still twice lower than the European average one. Increase in the number of surgeries in the Far Eastern District was due to active performance of the Federal Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery. However, the rates remain among the lowest compared to other regions of the Russian Federation and fail to meet the Region’s needs in full.
