Abstract

Significance. The main source of manpower for enterprises of the manufacturing sector is population living within the territory, adjacent to the enterprises. Health of the population defines quality of manpower.

Purpose. To evaluate indicators characterizing health of the population of the industrial city in 1990-2015.

Methods. The study object was population of the city of Seversk formed around the Siberian Chemical Integrated Plant. The study subject included indicators characterizing demographic situation: permanent disability, morbidity with temporary disability. Data used included data of the Department for economic development of the Administration of the Closed administrative and territorial entity and Territorial Office of the Federal State Statistics Service, stubs of medical certificates on death (form 106/u, information about the number of the dead), copies of forms of the federal statistical observation No. 7-social security and No. 16-VN.

Results. During the period under study Seversk reported increased population, birth rates and life expectancy. There was a decline in mortality, including among people of working age, initial onset of disability and indicators of temporal disability.

At the same time, so-called "demographic threats" remain in the population under study: increased aging coefficient, decreased number of children, women of fertile age, and people of working age that is partially compensated by increase in the number of working citizens by 1,000 people of the working age.

Conclusions. A number of negative medico-demographic processes typical of the population of the industrial city formed around the major enterprise can lead to a substation reduction in the labor potential of the populations under study.

To curb down negative trends in population health of the industrial city it is necessary to implement measures of strategic nature. In particular, it is necessary to encourage both natural and migration increase in population of the territory (through the able-bodied citizens of childbearing age).

Regular monitoring of medico-demographic indicators among population of industrial cities can be used as an effective tool for accessing public health.
