Abstract
Significance. Involvement of employees is one of
the main conditions for support and successful implementation of any
innovations in an institution; it is the employees who are the main
resource of the organization and the main link in assuring quality of
work. Studies in the field of personnel involvement show that it’s more
difficult to motivate those employees who are both satisfied and
noninvolved than those who are dissatisfied and noninvolved. It is
explained by the fact that a satisfied employee is not ready to put in
additional efforts in order to achieve the performance indicators.
Purpose: to assess type of involvement of
employees of the scientific medical institution in achieving objectives
of the organization depending on gender, age and professional
peculiarities.
Methods. An anonymous questionnaire survey was
performed among the core staff of the Research Institute for Complex
Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases. The object of the study was the core
staff of all professional groups of the institution. The respondents
were asked the following three questions: 1. Do you know strategic goals
and directions for development of the organization? 2. To what extent
do the values, norms, and standards of professional activity correspond
to your personal system of values, your ideas about proper behavior and
good work? 3. In your opinion, can you work with a better performance,
efficiency? Based on the responses all respondents were divided into the
following four groups: «Idealists», «Realists», «Antagonists» and
«Hesitant».
Results. Among non-medical personnel there was a
greater proportion of «Idealists» and «Realists» while among the
medical personnel – «Antagonists» and «Hesitant». Influence of age on
affiliation to the «Realists» was revealed. The probability of being a
«Realist» is statistically significantly higher in people of older age
both among medical personnel in general and among research associates.
Gender doesn’t affect involvement.
Conclusion. Focus-groups differentiated by
profession and age were formed. In terms of achieving objectives
«Idealists» and «Hesitant» groups predominate in the structure of both
medical and non-medical personnel of the Institute. It is proved that
professional peculiarities influence involvement.
