Abstract

Significance. Performance of health care facilities as well as quality of care provided greatly depend upon the organization’s ability to manage knowledge, which makes development and implementation of the knowledge management system in medical institutions rational and necessary. Relevance of the knowledge management is also confirmed by the release of a new version of the GOST R ISO 9001:2015 standard “Quality management systems. Requirements” which includes knowledge management among the new concepts.

Purpose: to develop a practical concept of regular knowledge management in medical institutions.

Methods. The authors used database of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU for scientific searches. Based on the resources of the Electronic Fund on legal, technical and regulatory documentation standards related to the study topic were analyzed.

Conclusion. Knowledge accumulated by the organization is its important performance intangible asset. Knowledge management system is a subsystem of the operations management, a tool ensuring that a valuable knowledge becomes a manageable intellectual capital of the organization.

Currently, the system approach to knowledge management in the Russian medical institutions is yet to be widely spread; management mechanisms are fragmentarily applied to manage certain types of knowledge including typical and atypical forms of the objects of the intellectual, copyright and patent rights.

Emergence of the “knowledge management” category in the modern international quality management standards actualizes issues related to the development and implementation of knowledge management systems in the professional medical community. Regular knowledge management in medical institutions and development of available intangible assets are targeted at benefiting performance of the organizations contribute to further quality improvement of health care delivery.
