S.V. Korolev, I.B. Zenkov Summary. Background. Worldwide, the number of patients with urogenital disorders and renal diseases and chronic renal failure in particular is permanently on the rise. This problem is especially relevant to the elderly. The most common urogenital disorder in elderly males is prostatic hyperplasia. The disease starts to develop at the age of 40-50 years with the maximum peak registered in the elderly – 60-74 years. Social importance and relevance of this issue is emphasized by demographic studies implemented by the World Health Organization that show a significant growth of the global population over 60, the rate of which substantially outpace the general population growth. This pattern is typical of our country as well. Prostatic hyperplasia accounts for 40% in males over 50 and adds up to 85% in males over 65 years of age; however clinical manifestations are noted in only 15% of men aged 50-70. Statistical observations show a clear tendency towards increased number of prostatic hyperplasia in all countries of the world with prevalence varying across regions. Chronic nature of kidney and other urinary disorders in the elderly is predominantly due to concomitant diseases, years of accumulated stress, decreased immunity, and low medical activity. The above stated substantiates the need to study incidence of kidney and other urinary disorders in older males with due regard to risk factors. The aim of the study was to evaluate major risk factors of urinary disorders in older males based on the analysis of social and hygienic aspects. Objectives of the study included the following:
