ORGANIZATIONAL MODEL OF POSTGRADUATE TRAINING FOR DEPARTMENT HEADS OF DENTAL CLINICS |

Stasevich N.Y.¹, Aleynikov A.S.², Wilk M.F.² Abstract. Background. The level of dental morbidity (i.e. dental health) is greatly affected by dentists’ competence. According to Order #210 of the Ministry of Health of Russia as of 03.07.2002 the concept of human resources policy in the Russian healthcare links together all those aspects. Considering the leading role of postgraduate training in improvement of professional competence of specialists the focus was placed on studying organization, planning and structure of the system of extended education as well as social and demographic factors that affect the process of futher professional development of dentists including department heads of Moscow dental clinics. The purpose of the study was to substantiate the necessity of postgraduate training for department heads of dental clinics. Methods: sociological (questionnaire), expert review, direct observation, statistical, graphic analysis. Results. Final evaluation of specific managerial competences of therapeutic department heads of dental clinics was 45.2% which suggests serious gaps in knowledge about planning and organizing work of dental clinic. Analysis of postgraduate training practice, results of special surveys showed high efficiency of futher professional development and general and thematic advanced training. The developed new organizational model of postgraduate professional development including general and thematic advanced training for department heads of dental clinics is based on the experimental program of postgraduate training, competence approach to the contents of educational process, and resident-distance training. It showed its efficiency in terms of positive dynamics of individual achievements of students before and after the training course (objective evaluation); positive feedback from the trainees (subjective evaluation). Conclusions. The developed new organizational model of resident-distance postgraduate professional development for department heads of dental clinics was implemented as a pedagogical experiment. The experiment lasted for 2 years: from January 2012 to December 2013. The experiment was based on studying individual achievements of students and their educational success. The analysis showed that the level of individual achievements of students of postgraduate professional development courses including general and thematic advanced training related to all aspects of theory and practice of organization and management of departments in dental clinics increased by 2.5-5.3 times. Scope of application. The main scope of application of the received data is educational activity of faculties of postgraduate training on Public Health at medical universities.
