Abstract

Significance. At the present stage of the healthcare development, prevention, especially of occupational diseases, has a special importance. However, there are some professional groups that are out of the focus of health professionals and health authorities.

This relates to cultural and art workers, who have a great impact on other people.

To our opinion, only health care organizers are able to clearly convey messages of this issue to the practical healthcare and would be able to develop a methodological framework for an integrated approach to preventive measures among these professional groups, to unite experts in different fields of medicine and create a direction in Art medicine.

Purpose: scientific rationale for developing an "Art-medicine" branch of activities to conduct scientific research and subsequent organizational and methodical activities to organize specialized care delivery to cultural and art workers.

Methodology. Moscow state Conservatory (MGK) named after P.I. Tchaikovsky – a higher musical educational institution in Moscow, one of the leading music universities in Russia and abroad served as a study base.

We have surveyed students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of vocal, orchestral and piano departments - 556 respondents in total.

The present study was conducted using expert evaluation, statistical methods. A sample method was used in the survey. A combined sampling method was used.

Results. In 72% of cases, occupational diseases of artists of creative professions were diagnosed in ages 18-23, which coincides with the period of education in a music school or Conservatory.

86.5-93.7% students suffer from diseases of the musculoskeletal system (scoliosis); 2.3-16.8% have hand diseases (dyskinesia, Raynaud's disease, carpal tunnel syndrome-neuromyositis); 4.7-58.2% - muscle diseases (muscle neuralgia, static muscle contracture, muscle spasm); 1.5-2.6% - vascular diseases (varicose veins); 4.8-31.2% -respiratory diseases; 14,5% - diseases of the voice ligaments; 59,9-63,8% - stomatitis; and 17.3-45.1% - diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Conclusions.

In the country there is no organizational framework for specialized care for prevention and treatment of occupational diseases of creative workers.

By their third year in the Conservatory students develop problems with the cardiovascular system (18.9% of string instruments student; 19.3% of brass and percussion students; and 23.6% of art management of the orchestra students). The number of students with chronic laryngitis is increasing adding up to 32.7%.
